You’d be forgiven for thinking hoodies are a fairly recent garment, but the truth is they can be traced right back to the Dark Ages when monks and villagers who worked outdoors, donned hooded cloaks.

However, the style of hooded sweatshirt we know today was first produced in the United States in the 1930s.

The iconic streetwear brand, Champion is credited with first producing the contemporary hoodie, which was marketed to outdoor workers dealing with freezing temperatures in upstate New York.

However, it wasn’t until the 1990s and the rise of the hoodie in hip hop culture that it was actually termed a “hoodie” or "hoody".

A few of the hoodies in this list are street classics that are sought after and unfortunately difficult to find.

However, this list mostly features classics that are available for 2019 with the freshest military inspired prints.
